Thought for The Day - Breeze

Many mornings and days
I start my journey headed east
Another day of repeated tasks
And familiar greetings
They drag from day-to-day
And though you are a bright spot in my day
Your clouds seem to be gathering
Like August hurricanes
I watch you becoming restless
Troubled as your feet repeat each step
Hoping each day brings a distraction
A moment of release
But the dawn seems to bring more of the same
And each adventure
More storms and weight

There is a storm brewing
Greater than you and I
It’s disturbing the very atmosphere of this old world
Troubling life as we know it
It’s more than a change
It is a rockin’ shakin’ tremblin’ force
Sure to disturb

Anchored
We wont blow away
Steady
We’re held fast in hope
Though all around us seems blown away
And every wind seems to rule
Darkness surrounds
Light dissipates

But…

Thought for The Day - Clouds

Lovely weather we're having?  One of the most interesting series of seasons I've experienced in a while! Brutally cold weather, rather cool spring and the summer is a series of cooler days with "pop-up" storms and rain. And accompanying it all? Clouds. Got to have clouds to have snow and rain. And you've got to have clouds to bring the mood down. Or you can just be in a "downer" mood.

One great thing about the rain: it makes it easier to maintain a beautiful lawn; I don't think I've seen it this green and even all of my adult years. On days when the forecast is "partly cloudy," that mix allows the grass to get a break from the extreme sun. Throw a rain shower here and there and the yard is beautiful!

Clouds come and go; I've taken pictures recently of awesome cloud formations. I'm looking forward to getting more shots as well, especially the stormy ones where the sky turns a luminous green.

One cloud doesn't get moved by the wind and the other clouds heading east over Lake Michigan: the cloud that's been in my life no matter what. That's the cloud of dreams and goals. I can say for certain I can see the shape it takes! It is clear to me now and I am grateful it has never left me.

Thought for The Day - In The Wind

Even a rock can be changed by the wind...

Flowing. There are times when I sit to write or draw or paint, with no preconceived notion. I allow the 'breeze' to carry me in the direction it wishes. Words flow, colors and shapes emerge and my soul soars. Then there are the times when my meditations and logic are behind the wheel and the writing has a decided path. While more challenging - didn't think I was that much of a free spirit - it flows with force and purpose as well.

Growing up in an area where there is always 'air movement' as I've come to name it, I always feel a slight breeze. Because you always feel it, you don't notice it until you're in an area where there is no breeze and the sun is beaming down on you, and the only relief available is a piece of paper waving across your face. But here in Chicago, with little to supposedly 'no breeze' just walking around outside, you feel the slightest air moving around you.

This creativity thing, whether I 'acknowledge' it, flow with it or use it as a form of "resistance training" it works in my favor. For the many years where I wouldn't dare write or draw, I wasn't aware that I was slowly being turned and twisted and cracked. During this process, slowly I gave in and found that the best way to live this life was in light of what exists in me as well as following the direction the Spirit of God would take me.
